The Annapurna Region is one of Nepal’s most renowned tourism destinations, globally recognized for its outstanding natural beauty, cultural diversity, and well-developed trekking infrastructure. Located in north-central Nepal, the region is home to the Annapurna Massif, which includes Annapurna I (8,091 m), the first mountain over 8,000 meters ever climbed.
The region offers a remarkable variety of landscapes, ranging from subtropical forests and terraced farmlands to alpine meadows and high-altitude deserts. It is equally rich in cultural heritage, inhabited by diverse ethnic communities such as Gurung, Magar, Thakali, and Manangi, whose traditions, architecture, and hospitality add significant value to the visitor experience.
Major attractions include the Annapurna Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, Ghorepani–Poon Hill, and Mustang areas. Protected under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), the region emphasizes sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and community-based development, making it a model destination for responsible and experiential travel.
